NADCAP Special Processes

There are many special, stand-alone processes that provide distinct characteristics desired from a particular material. There are also supplemental treatments that provide cosmetic, engineering, or a combination of both to improve and finish the part.  All of ElectroLab‘s Special Processes are NADCAP accredited, with the exception of zinc phosphating.

Sometimes these processes are part of the requirement of a particular government, military, AMS, ASTM, or customer engineering specification, while others are covered by their own unique specification.

Special processes that are provided by ElectroLab that are considered stand-alone processes and have their own specifications are:

  • Electroless Nickel
  • Passivation
  • Chemical Film
  • Zinc Phosphate
  • Cleaning & Pickling
  • Black Oxide (Copper Alloys)
  • Black Oxide (Steel)
  • Black Oxide (SS)
  • Electropolish Stainless Steel
  • Electropolish Aluminum

Supplemental Special Processes

Special processes that are supplemental and usually part of a government, military, AMS, ASTM, or customer specification include:

  • Chromate Conversion Coatings for Zinc & Cadmium in Yellow, Clear, Black, & Olive Drab
  • Thermal Treatment for Stress Relief Prior to Plating
  • Hydrogen Embrittlement Relief After Plating for Parts That Have Been Hardened
  • Application of Supplemental Corrosion Inhibiting Oil-Based or Nitrite-Based Corrosion Inhibitors to Prevent Corrosion upon Storage
